Students from Taylor University interview us!

Recently, we had a very interesting experience. We were interviewed by a group of students from Taylor University, Indiana, USA. The students are creating a documentary for their international film class. This project gives them insight into other cultures, and an idea of what it’s like to live in another country, and what motivates people to do so. For more than 20 years, as video producers, we have been the ones to interview others. For us to be on the other side of the camera was a new experience...it’s not easy! We hope that we did a good job explaining what it’s like to pull up roots and move away from all you’ve known, and also imparting how we much we love Ecuador and the life we have here. Thank you to the crew, Anna, Mo, Isaac and Luke, for giving us this experience and we look forward to seeing the finished production!

If you like tequila, here is outdoor tourism opportunity near Ambato. You can see how Runa Miske tequila is made from blue agave, and enjoy local handicrafts as well.

Located in Salassca Parish, Pelileo Canton, Tungurahua province, Runa Miske products are made by Guillermo Masaquiza. You can call 0987368822 to arrange for a tour. (Cell or WhatsApp, bilingual.)

We have not yet made this trip, but we are happy to share outdoor tourism opportunities. If you have toured with Guillermo, please share your experience and pics!

Thank you, to Scott Haschen for sending along these beautiful pictures. Scott and family moved to Ecuador 4.5 years ago. They first lived in Riobamba, with a view of Chimborazo from their back porch! They recently moved to lush, green Baños Ambato, just five minutes from El Pailon del Diable waterfall. Scott let me know that they are installing fiber internet this week (3/21,) which is great news for those wanting to live away from larger cities, that need fiber. Thanks for sharing, Scott! #riobamba #chimborazo #bañosambato

Guide Adrián Mora Zea recently posted pics and video from his recent trip to Delta del Río Paute, located 65 km (40 miles) from Cuenca. The area is also known as Las Juntas. So pretty!! See our FaceBook page for driving directions from Paute. https://www.facebook.com/GoExploreEcuador/posts/772277603718907 #Paute #deltadelriopaute #Lasjuntas

Here are some pictures from our walk in El Centro, in Cuenca recently. We’re getting footage for our next walking video! Host/guide Carlos Lara was able to join us this time! We visited the oldest inn in the city (now an art gallery currently featuring motion art displays), and met a guitar luthier named Jose Tiger. His original designs are so unique. We spent the day enjoying the beautiful architecture, and sights and sounds of the historic center of the city. #elcentro #cuenca #ecuador

We visited Quetzal Park recently, nestled in a colorful neighborhood in Cuenca. Featuring koi, this quaint park is so peaceful and pretty. From a half-dozen footbridges, you can enjoy views of koi, large and small. Cross streets: Republica Dominicana and Calle Ecuador. #quetzalpark #cuenca #ecuador

Our friend, Fausto sent us a video. He and his brother, are world-class, highly experienced canyoning guides. Their service, Life Adventures, has developed a social distancing plan that is now able to offer canyoning and rappelling tours in Bucay (Guayas province.) If you are seeking adventure at this time, contact Fausto (bilingual) via messenger at their Facebook page ‘Adventure Riders’, and please send us a pic of your adventure! #canyoning #bucay #ecuador

Guide/host Carlos Lara, paid a visit to our favorite private label coffee grower/roaster. Small batch, shade-grown coffee at its finest. Located off the beaten path, 70 km (45 miles) southeast of Cuenca, it has everything we love... a beautiful river, tranquility, lush greenery, and shade-grown coffee (of course!)
