A question we answer frequently, is how do I get my mail after I move abroad?! πŸ“ͺπŸ“¨ If you are moving, or have moved from the US, we can give a little insight on this. We use a mail forwarding/scanning service called Traveling Mailbox. This service receives your mail, and scans the envelopes. You are then notified that you have new mail via your email. πŸ“©We actually use the service on our cellphone. πŸ“²You review the envelope scans online, πŸ–±and decide what you’d like to have done with the mail:

Envelopes are scanned and can be viewed online.

Envelopes are scanned and can be viewed online.

1. Shred the envelope without opening it.

2. Open the envelope and scan the contents for your review online.

3. Store the original mail for as long as needed.

4. Forward the mail to the address of your choice, domestically, or internationally.

5. If it is a check, you can choose to have it deposited.

Scanned images are kept at no extra charge until you delete them. We have found that we seldom need an original document, and love the freedom of not having mail lying around! βœ‰οΈBut if you need the original, you can have it sent wherever you need it. This is also helpful for when those renewed credit cards get sent out.πŸ’³

Traveling Mailbox allows you to choose the address you want that will be your mailing address, and they also can receive packages from ground/express services like UPS, FedEx, etc.πŸš› They offer a variety of plans and services depending on the amount of mail you need to process on average, each month.

Our team members have used this service since 2015 and can recommend it based on personal experience. And, in our experience, the customer support and service is excellent.☎️

Pro tip!βœ…This service can be started if you already live abroad, but it is much easier to set this service up before leaving the US, as a notarized USPS form must be submitted to set up the account (required by all mail forwarding services in the US.) If you currently do not live in the US, you can print the required USPS form after setting up an account.πŸ–¨ You then will need to have it notarized at the consulate or embassy, or take advantage of consular services when they visit a city near you.πŸ“‘ If you are in need of mail forwarding/scanning, we hope this information is of help to you and consider subscribing to our channel for information about Ecuador! - The EE Team. πŸŽ₯πŸ“Έ
